Types of media

The six types of media forms are cinema, television, radio, newspapers, magazines and websites


Newspapers are physical paper containing the most important news from the previous days. Newspapers are quite small and light which allows them to be taken almost everywhere. They are becoming less popular as news is being provided online more and more.










Movies are a popular type of media where a fiction or non-fiction story is told to the viewers with video and audio. Depending on the movie, the target audience can be aimed at any age or race. The Jungle Book is aimed at older kids around 10 years old as it contains scenes young children will find scary.



Radio is a type of media form where viewers only hear the news from radio stations which comes through their radio. Examples of radio stations are BBC Radio 1-6. BBC radio 1 is used to entertain listeners between 15 and 29 years old with music and speech in between. For news and sports fans of all ages across the UK, they should listen to BBC Radio 5.



TV channels like ITV News provide live information and videos of the most recent and important stories. The target audience of ITV news and other news channels is all adults as it is best for every adult to know what important news has happened all over the world.








A magazines is a type of media which is usually centred around one subject. They are a physical paper book like newspapers but do not contain articles of the biggest news stories. There are magazines on almost every topic which allows readers to find something they are interested in. The target audience of magazines depend on the theme but they are mostly aimed at adults of both genders. Magazines can be found at newsagents and most other shops.
